  • What is the school’s relationship with St Paul’s Girls’ School in London?

    Our school is the first overseas school opened by our parent school, St Paul’s Girl’s School (SPGS) in London. St Paul’s Girl’s School is closely involved in all aspects of our school’s development and operation, advising and leading the school from governance, curriculum and pedagogy to teacher recruitment and the students’ daily lives.

  • You are partnered with St Paul’s Girl’s School, does your school accept both boys and girls?

    Yes, our school in Chengdu is co-educational, accepting both boys and girls in all year groups.

  • When did the school open and which year groups do you enroll?

    The school opened in August 2021, current classes include Early Years to Year 11.

  • What’s the location of the school?

    The school is on 6th Shengxing Alley, which is centrally located at the center of High-tech district, right next to the Jincheng Park.

  • Which year group will my child be in?

    Year group placement is determined by your child’s age, as outlined below based on the UK education system.

  • What is the application process?

    Interested families should apply directly by filling out the Application Form on the website or contacting our Admissions team (QR code on WeChat articles). Applications should be submitted with a set of required supporting documents. All applicants will be invited to take part in an assessment exercise, either face-to-face or online. Both parents and students will also have the opportunity meet with the Head of the school, either in person or online.

  • What are the admissions criteria?

    We accept students who are foreign passport holders, or holders of a Mainland Travel Permit for residents from Hong Kong SAR, China; Macau SAR, China; or Taiwan, Province of China. We welcome students and families who meet this requirement and support our school ethos and values. Admission is by assessment and a meeting with our school Head. We consider the applicant’s academic history, English language proficiency, interests and passions, personality and character and. Above all, we assess whether the applicant will fit in well at our school.

  • What are the school fees?

  • Do you offer scholarships?

    Our school offers Music, Art, Sports and academic scholarships for talented students. For details, please click here or  contact our Admissions Office.

  • Are there any tuition fee discounts?

    A 10% discount on the tuition fees for the academic year of 2021-2022 will be given to students registered before 1st June, 2021.

     

    A 5% sibling discount on tuition fees is offered for a second child attending school during the same academic year, and a 7% sibling discount on tuition fees for a third child or more.

  • How can I visit your school?

    We very much welcome you to our school for a visit. Please book your visit by phone or by scanning the QR code here, and our Admissions team will contact you to arrange an appointment as soon as possible.

     

  • What are the school hours?

    School day: 8:30am – 3:45pm
    After-school activities & clubs: 4:00pm – 5:00pm

  • Which curriculum you are using?

    Our curriculum is based on the British National Curriculum but extends well beyond this. We include St Paul’s Girls’ School values and the best elements of its curriculum. We also offer rich co-curricular programmes and excellent pastoral care. Our ‘Curriculum for Life’ ensures that our teaching programmes develop our pupils intellectually, socially and emotionally. We also include a full programme of Chinese language and culture for all age groups.

  • What are the teachers’ backgrounds?

    All homeroom and subject teachers are certified educators with recognised UK and international teaching qualifications and strong teaching backgrounds from the UK and renowned international schools. They have a detailed understanding of the British National Curriculum and a shared belief in a holistic and fun approach to education.

     

    Our Chinese co-teachers hold professional teaching licenses, are bilingual in English and Chinese, and have experience with the UK curriculum and the international school system.

  • Does the school offer after-school activities?

    Yes, our school runs a daily after-school programme from 4:00-5:00 each afternoon, which includes Music, Art, Sport, Language, STEAM and community activities. A full list of options will be sent to students/parents prior to the start of each term. Some of activities may be run by qualified external educational providers and the school may ask parents to contribute to some of the costs.

  • Do you have language support?

    Yes. English as an Additional Language (EAL) support will be provided to students who need support in English proficiency, delivered through a combination of in-class ongoing support and additional small group sessions.

     

    Chinese as an Additional Language (CAL) provides in-class tutoring and additional individual lessons for students with zero or weak Chinese language skills.

  • Will my child learn Chinese?

    Yes, Chinese language and culture are an important part of our enhanced curriculum and all students receive daily Chinese classes from our qualified Chinese teachers: either Chinese as a Native Speaker (CNS) or Chinese as an Additional Language (CAL), depending on their Chinese language ability. Chinese language courses are offered from early years to high school, and Chinese culture-related courses such as calligraphy and traditional Chinese stories are also offered as part of the extracurricular extension programme.

  • How do you ensure children’s safety in school?

    Your child’s safety at school is paramount. We have a comprehensive Safeguarding programme and Health & Safety policies that are approved and monitored by St Paul’s Girl’s School in the UK. All our staff are extensively trained and receive ongoing safeguarding and health/safety training. Please find our safeguarding and health/safety policies here.

    Our purpose-built campus complies to all government Health & Safety regulations, and we ensure that our facilities, equipment and structures are properly installed and regularly maintained to ensure your child’s safe use at all times.

  • Where can I find the school calendar?

    The 2023-2024 school calendar is on our website or is available in printed format from our Admissions Office.

  • Do you have a school uniform?

    Yes, children are required to wear school uniform every day and we have a variety of clothing items for both formal and daily occasions. Further details on our school uniform can be found here.

  • Do you have a school bus?

    Yes, we have bus service. Please contact the Admissions Department for specific bus routes.

  • Does your school have a boarding programme?

    No, SPGS International School Chengdu is a day school located in the centre of Chengdu’s High-tech Zone. We run an extensive programme of after-school clubs to cater for parents who have busy working lives.
