SPGS International School Chengdu nurtures a culture of aspiration. A host of events throughout the year introduces students to a multitude of pathways and possibilities.

The PSHE programme in Key Stage 3, supported by a programme of assemblies and outside speakers, will help students to develop a growing understanding of themselves, the world and their place in it. They will be supported and guided by their homeroom teacher, with oversight from the Director of Studies. Their chosen enrichment activities give a range of complementary experiences to guide a student’s choice of options at IGCSE level.

As they progress through the school, personalised support helps each student to identify their individual passions and interests and to find and gain a place on the course which is right for them. Our diverse programme of external speakers gives students valuable and practical advice as they contemplate university courses and real-world application of their studies. Local university visits will supplement this, as will ‘virtual’ lectures from academics.

Students and families will receive step by step guidance on the process of applying for university. Homeroom tutors and departmental academic mentors will work closely together to support students to prepare their university applications and personal statements. The academic reference provided by the school is tailored to each student, to give them the best possible chance of success in their applications.

It is our aim to attain the academic achievement that St Paul’s Girls’ School is renowned for. Our sister school has ranked No.1 in the UK for 11 of the past 12 years and was voted Independent School of the Year 2024 by the Sunday Times. Approximately 40% of the school’s students are admitted to Oxbridge or Ivy League universities.
